I heard there was a market on Saturdays and saw a sign on the A10 saying Free Parking so I turned off. I saw a Pay and Display car park and no signs for a market so carried on round the edge of town back to the A10. Maybe there is no longer a market.

A great space for activities but an excellent museum in it’s own right. Well worth a visit. Plenty of volunteers on hand.

Went here for a creative workshop. There was also a cafe on today run by volunteers ..the food was all home made and very tasty. Lovely friendly people running the museum. I believe it is free entry and there is also a free car park.

Speaking as a pensioner who was brought up in Downham, I found all the displays fascinating. My 97 year old, blind Mum also enjoyed the experience. The staff were extremely helpful, too. (Our dog was also welcomed)

Discover Downham Heritage Centre is well worth a visit. There’s always a warm welcome from the volunteers and something new to discover. This is a gem of a place with really interesting displays about local history and fascinating exhibitions. They make a lovely cup of coffee in the cafe!

Discover Downham Market Heritage museum and information centre based in the Old Fire Station. A friendly and welcoming team, keen to share their knowledge. There is a website were all contact details can be found. You can telephone, email or visit the centre to learn the history of Downham Market (a settlement has been on this site for around 2000 years) or do family research, attend Quiz nights, informative events and much more. The Heritage Centre can also be hired out for private functions.

The Downham Heritage Centre I have found has available an excellent history of the town and surrounding area. Its displays include past local people of interest, past places of interest, a history of businesses as well as history of the Fens. Its currently featuring an agricultural display of 'Plough to Plate' which I found very interesting and there are other subjects on display. There's obviously lots of history tucked away due to limited space so anyone may have to enquire for any specific historical interests they may have.
